SEchat

SEchat (short for Secure Chat ) is a free, lightweight, open-source Android chat client. It is based on our old "Gnökien Chat App" (deprecated, but free to modify below) and highly adapted to the needs of this application.

I want to provide an opportunity to use a free and secure chat client. There are many of them out there at the moment, but most of them aren't completely open-source so you never know what they send apart from your messages.

Features:

  • Two public chatrooms where everybody can participate.
  • Private chatrooms with end-to-end encryption.
  • AES Encryption - based on the popular Crypto-JS.
  • Very small size (1.6 MB)
  • Free
  • Open-Source
  • No ads, no spyware, no bloatware - just a chat client.

This app does not collect any data at all! If you don't believe me, get the source code down below. It's written with App Inventor 2 which is so simple to understand, literally an eight year-old can program it - so don't hesitate to check it out! ;)

HOWEVER, if you have any privacy concerns, please feel free to ask me here.

OS: Android Only

Requirements: An internet connection for the chat service.

Down here you can get every kind of source code you want. Why not have a look at the code and report some possible improvements? Or why not help making the encryption stronger?

Also there's the Gnökien Chat App - you can do whatever you want with that, I couldn't care less.
